Vault City
Quests:
1. Rescue Amanda's husband Joshua
Amanda, who lives in the courtyard,
is very upset because her husband is held in the Servant Allocation Centre.
Before you set out to rescue him, talk to little Curtis outside of the
tent and find his doll Mr. Nixon. (see screenshot) Give it back and listen
to what Curtis says, he'll point out the location of a wrench which will
be very useful in the future.
In the Servant Allocation Centre talk
to the official and persuade him (speech skill) that Joshua is suffering
from a contagious disease or buy him out.
2. Get plow for the Smiths
Reward: 250 XP + Desert Eagle
The local shopkeeper has a plow that
is of use to the farming family in the eastern part of town. Should your
speech skill be high enough you can lower his price to 600$.
The Desert Eagle is just the thing
to give to Vic.
3. Deliver 10 x booze + 10 x beer to
Lydia
Reward:
The Tap Room right behind the second
gate only sells synthetic alcohol. Talk to Lydia and propose to bring the
"real thing". Just venture to any bar when you have the time and buy the
stuff.
4. Resolve Gecko power plant problem
Reward: 4500 XP + Citizenship
Talk to First Citizen Lynette and show
her your canteen and Jump-suit to prove your origin. Then agree to "resolve"
the Gecko power plant problem to gain Citizenship. Run to Gecko and ask
Harold about the problem. He sends you to Vault City to get a part (Hydro...).
Don't go to Lynette, try talking to McClure instead. He'll send you to
Amenities Office where you can get the part. Back inside the power plant
try to get the yellow and red keycards by stealing them or rummaging through
the furniture. Go to the reactor room and install the part as described
below or ask Festus to do it.
Festus will help you only if your speechskill
is high enough
To fix the reactor activate the terminal
and use the following commands: - Initialise...
- Code containing A
- Code containing B
- Code containing C
- Repair ...
- give the part to the robot
- Add commands: - Amplify...
- Deharmonize...
- Calibrate...
- Set...
- Test...
- Install Hydro...
- End Program
- Execute Program
Then go to Festus to hear about the
necessary upgrade of the reactor. Take the disk and the info about your
success to McClure and you'll get Citizenship.
5. Get Wrench and Pliers for Valerie
Reward: 250 XP + Super Tool Kit
Val who is working in the maintenance
centre and happens to be Vic's daughter needs some tools. After you brought
them to her wait for 2 days and return for the S.T.K.
6. Scout the eight hexes around Gecko
Reward: 350 XP 300 $
Stark in the Correction Centre wants
the area around Gecko scouted.
7. Plot route to the NCR
Reward: Motion Scanner
Upon completion of your quest Stark
has a new job to offer: just go to NCR and back.
Miscellaneous:
- G&B in the courtyard bar
- Cassidy the owner of the courtyard
bar can be recruited
- Charlie who is in a tent in the courtyard,
use doctor and Rad-away on him
- Have Vic repair the Autodoc, then
have the doctor remove your extra toe
- At the gate to the inner city on
of the officials has a day pass, steal it.
- Ed, Vic's friend is to be found in
the courtyard and he'll mark new towns on your map
- Go to the Info Centre and lament
the fact that books are obsolete and you'll earn some manuals
- While solving quests for Stark at
the corrections centre, ask him about the raider's attacks
- There is a first aid book in the
parlour room
- Talk to Valerie alone (without Vic)
and convince her to give her dad another chance
- Search the Library in the Vault for
XP (level 3, lower right area; check the similar one in Vault 15 and 13,
too)
- Martin on level 3 of the vault sing
the title song "Maybe" from Fallout 1, complement on his singing and you'll
get 1 karma (you can do this as often as you like)
- Apart from Info about the G.E.C.K.
and optimisation data the computer also gives you a hint: (repair the Ventilation)
- Loot the 2nd and 3rd level of the
Vault after you gained Citizenship. Make a special point of taking the
computer voice module (lvl 3). The two doors that are rusted shut (Red
Memory Module is to be found there) can be forced open as soon as you can
lay your hands on some powered armour.
- On the 1st level of the vault are
medical computers containing info about Combat Implants. It is only accessible
for those having a doctor skill of about 60%.
- The doctor in the Vault can give
you medical training (if your doctor-skill is >60%) and a vaccine that
makes you more resistant to poison and radiation (if your poisoned &
radiated???)
- Phyllis who is there as well offers
various conversational opportunities:
- convince her to
see the outside world
- tell her about the sterility in Vault
City
- and you can date her (even though
she's a bore)
- the doctor may ask you for a sample
of Jet and if you bring it to him, he'll us it to concoct an antidote to
this vicious drug which will be very useful to the Doctor in Redding
- The Amenities office frequently sells
various skill-boosting books
- tell McClure about Redding Jet Problem
- Bring Bishop's Holodisk to Lynette,
she will send you to Westin in NCR
