Klammath
Quests:
1. Refuel the still for Whisky
Bob
Reward: 50 $ or 75 $ (depends
on speech skill) + 100 XP
Whisky Bob is at Mrs. Buckner's if
you agree to offer him a drink he'll ask you to refuel his still for him.
When refuelling the still don't bother fighting the gecko's just run to
the shack and close the door behind you, this'll make it easier for you.
2. Rescue Smiley the trapper
Reward: 1000 XP + 100 $
While talking to Mrs. Buckner, she
mentions, that her beau, Smiley has been missing for quite some time. He
is in the toxic caves, a location that is revealed after your talk with
Ardin Buckner. Before you head out to save the trapper I strongly recommend
recruiting Sulik and completing Quest 4. Entering the toxic caves, make
sure that you have rubber boots for you and Sulik. If you haven't got an,
you will probably grow an extra toe, which can be removed in Vault City.
It is rumoured, that using the toe on Horrigan (End Boss) has some effect
but it didn't work for me. Down in the caves where Smiley is located you'll
note a generator and an elevator. Even if you can repair the generator,
unlocking the elevator doors will be quite beyond your capabilities. So
come back later with electronic lockpicks, tools to repair the generator
and some heavy artillery to take out the sentry robot down there. The loot
is well worth it (2mm EC ammo, 5.7 mm caseless and much more). While taking
Smiley back to the entrance try to steal his golden gecko pelts (save first).
Back in Klammath Smiley can teach you how to skin geckos and boost your
Outdoorsman skill. Don't forget the rad-aways in the locker close to the
elevator.
3. Help Torr guard the brahmin
Reward: 250 XP
Torr, Ardin Buckner's son needs help
guarding his "moo-moos". Kill all the scorpions in the lower right area
and your done. The Duntons want you to scare Torr away, but you wouldn't
do that, now would you? You can steal the Duntons weapons which are quite
useful at this early stage of the game. The Radscorpion limbs in the shack
are used by the Duntons to scare Torr.
4. Kill Keeng Rat
Go to trapper town and ask Slim Picket
to teach you about trapping geckos. He'll tell you that he wants 50 $ but
in the end he'll pay it to you. The key to the door in trapper town is
near Buckner's place. Talk to the dog, (be sure to have some drymeat (Duntons))
let him have the doggy treat and he'll cough up the key. Go back to trapper
town and unlock the door Search the area be sure not to forget the rubber
boots. At the upper right edge of trapper town you'll find a manhole to
climb down. Keep going down until you find the rat king. When fighting
him be sure to aim for the head because, as all rodents, rat keeng may
be killed with one critical hit (save). After slaying the vermin head for
the upper right area, up ladder (lockpick 75% necessary or use the dynamite
from the shelf for the locked door) and keep going until you reach the
surface. Now search the car to the lower left for a fuel-cell regulator.
( VERY important little thingie)
Miscellaneous:
- Right after entering town be sure
to visit John L. Sullivan in the Golden Gecko he'll teach you some unarmed
tricks (if your skill is not too high, after the training you can use your
skill points on your unarmed skill)
- There is an issue of the G&B
magazine in an house near Buckner's inn.
- Be sure to recruit Sulik and give
him a sharpened spear and take away his hammer.
- Take all the stuff from Vic's house
(radio!)
- A crashed Vertibird (Heli) is located
to the west of the Main Street. On one of the bodies a keycard can be found,
but I didn't find out how or where to use it.
- While you are in Klammath you should
try to buy a leather armour from Maida Buckner (price should be about 1400,
trade useless stuff in and if you have the dynamite from trapper town.
